Why did we recommend this?
Outside mounted shutters look great on any window and are the perfect choice when it’s not possible to fit within a recess. To inside mount you need a recess that is at least 70mm deep.
Choosing how to mount your shutters comes down to the design of your window. Because your window doesn't have a 70mm recess, we recommend outside mounting. You don't have room to put shutters inside your window's recess.
Outside mounted shutters are fitted onto the wall around the window. If you have an architrave they'll be fitted onto the architrave.

Not Recommended
We do not recommend that you choose inside mounted shutters. Inside mounted shutters need a recess that is at least 70mm deep or they will not fit the window. Proceed with caution!

Frame style
Z Frame
L Frame
Why did we recommend this?
Not only does a Z frame look fantastic, it is the easiest frame to fit. Window slightly out of square? You won't even notice with a Z frame. If you're inside mounting, we think this is the way to go.
We recommend using a Z frame because it is easier to fit than an L frame (and looks great). The lip of a Z frame extends onto the wall around the window meaning there are never any light gaps, even if your window is slightly out of square. If you choose an L frame, completing the install will probably require gap filling around the edge of the frame.
In some circumstances, you may need to fix your frame deeper within the recess than a Z frame allows (if you're fixing into brick, for example). The fixing point for a Z frame - the point you will screw into the wall - is approximately 30mm inside your recess. If this is not deep enough, select an L frame.
An inside mounted L frame has the benefit of being fitted anywhere within your recess - flush with the wall like a Z frame, or back close the the window (if you have the room). Slightly harder to fit than a Z frame, but still an excellent choice.
We recommend using a Z frame because it is easier to fit than an L frame (and looks great).
